Key Responsibilities:
To provide and manage emergency medical care across the school for students, staff and visitors.
To work as an informed, proactive, effective and cohesive member of the community with the health and safety of all the students and staff being paramount.
To review the health status of all children on entry to the school in accordance with requirements.
Maintain accurate records for each student.
To identify and coordinate health care for students with additional health needs to ensure that they receive the support required to enable them to attend and benefit from school.
To communicate with students, parents, and teachers on medical matters and assess and advise relative parties with the information received.
To communicate with parents, specialist health care professionals and others to develop individual health care plans for students with complex health needs and long-term conditions.
To be the first point of contact for children, parents or carers needing health advice or information and offer open access to personalised support and advice in areas such as managing stress, risk-taking behaviours and refer on to other services as necessary.
Identify knowledge gaps and plan Professional Development with the Vice Principal (Pastoral) to actively address these needs, ensuring appropriate updates for First Aid, Basic Life Support and Automated external defibrillator and Epipen Skills.
To keep continuously updated on medical best practice recording and evaluating training completed.
To liaise with International School Nurses across Singapore, supporting, facilitating and sharing of professional development.
To provide annual training and advice for teachers and other staff on specific health needs
To review and document the first-aid qualifications of teachers and other staff members, planning and coordinating first aid courses for staff as required.
To advise parents on immunisation programmes and advises on outbreaks of communicable diseases.
Record visits to the Health Centre in the student’s records as well as first aid administration and any treatment provided communicated to the parents in writing or by telephone if necessary.
To act as an advocate, providing supportive care for students who require mental-health support; liaising with families, internal multidisciplinary team alongside external agencies with the child as a primary focus.
Communicate the accident/emergency procedure to all staff and review annually.
Ensure that all information remains confidential and that disclosure without consent is made only during exceptional circumstances i.e. child protection issues and in accordance with school policy.
Ensure that there is a clear policy on the storage, administration and recording of medication/s that is given while a student is in school.
Obtain documented parental agreement prior to administering medication to a student and/or for a student to carry and administer his/her own medicine.
Ensure that emergency medication is readily available to students who always require it at all times during the school day or at off-site activities.
Non-emergency medication is kept in a secure place (the Health Centre) in a locked cupboard.
Ensure that medical equipment is kept in good order and any requirements advised to administration, as necessary.
Ensure that appropriate levels of medication/supplies are available and reorder, as necessary.
When appropriate the school nurse will advise on and develop new initiatives in response to evidence based good practice which may be beneficial to students and/or staff.
To research, develop, implement and support best practice health promotion programmes for students and staff across the school
To ensure all health related school policies are current and compliant with clinical and school requirements adhering to national policies where required.
Create and implement the Health Centre’s annual Development Plan in line with the school’s strategic plan and review throughout the academic year.
To meet the Ministry of Health regulations on the licensing of the School Medical Clinic and ensure the Health Centre meets safety guidelines.

Requirements:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree/Post Graduate Qualifications/Professional Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
Preferably with previous experience in an International School setting.
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
Confident in the use of IT and knowledgeable as to how it can be used in the administrative environment.

Salary Range:

$3000 - $4300
